Osservatorio Gran Bretagna: Statistiche sulla pratica religiosa nel Regno Unito “English Church Census 2005”. Rapporto “Needs of Migrants in London’s Catholic Community” (14 febbraio 2007)

L’Istituto londinese “Cristian Research” ha pubblicato sul suo sito web (www.christian-research.org.uk) i risultati di una ricerca svolta nel 2005 sulla pratica religiosa nel Regno Unito ed in particolare sulla frequenza della Messa domenicale.

Il dato che emerge è il declino nella pratica religiosa, che si accompagna tuttavia con l’aumento dei fedeli che frequentano la Messa nella città di Londra. La crescita dei fedeli praticanti nella City si spiega soprattutto con la sempre più numerosa presenza di immigrati nelle chiese.

Il Von Hügel Institute Centre For Faith In Society The Ground of Justice ha pubblicato, il 14 febbraio scorso, “The Ground of Justice. The Report of a Pastoral Research Enquiry into the Needs of Migrants in London’s Catholic Community”, uno studio su questi “nuovi praticanti” della Chiesa Cattolica britannica e sulle prospettive che questo fenomeno può determinare per la società e per i pastori.

The brief of this research was an exploratory study to enquire into the lived experience of those members of the Church who have travelled from other parts of the world – but within a Church with a universal understanding of its identity and membership – to the increasingly global city of London. Based upon this enquiry our brief was also to make recommendation to the Church as to ways in which it might improve its current work and engagement with and for immigrants.
